A. BACKGROUND :
The company established in 1989 with the aim to provide total comprehensive service to the
freight forwarding industry. Now-a-days quick logistics support to the Manufacturers,
Exporters and Importers is an essential matter and so it is our strategy to provide pre-shipment
logistics support to our clients.
“NOVO” is totally committed to provide a total transportation services to our client
irrespective of the size of consignment. We plan, co-ordinate, supervise, document and
monitor the entire movement system of consignment. For services we provide manned by our
trained personnel and so NOVO consists of a group of 350 motivated young skilled personnel
in its 8 Offices in Bangladesh. We are registered as a Private Limited Company with our
Government and a General Member of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
B. PRODUCTS HANDLE:
Our country’s main exports are Ready made garments/Wearing apparel, Leather and Leather
products, Jute and Frozen Seafood; but Jute/Seafood are not really forwarder commodities.
Our Annual Turnover for Ready made garments exports worth 1.45 billion USD.
Bangladesh ranks the 7th largest apparel Exporter to USA which is about 49% of our total
ready made garment products and the 4th largest for cotton items only. The EC takes 45%,
Germany takes 29%, followed by France and Italy. Bangladesh is Exporter of Tshirt
to the EC.
C. ECONOMIC OUTLOOK:
GDP growth at 5.6% per annum but economy relies almost ly on Ready made
garment exports and therefore very fragile. There is a lot of foreign investment from Japan,
Korea and Hong Kong. The Government is moving towards Free markets open seas and sky;
but still conservative i .e. lots of re-forex and customs regulations but; no real problem reoverseas
remittances.

D. SEA FREIGHT: ____________________
Our main port is located at Chittagong which is about 5 hours roadway at South East of the
Capital City Dhaka by truck and there is also a rail road from Dhaka–ICD directly into
Chittagong port which handles about 150,000 tons consignment in and out per annum with
generous CY and CFS facilities having received technical aid and advice from Singapore port
authority. All cargo moves via common carrier feeder vessel to Singapore, Colombo and Port
Kelang for trans-shipments to mother vessels departing for USA, Canada and Europe.
All carriers have an allocated CFS area within the Chittagong CFS building and forwarder use
carrier’s CFS.
Only Novo Cargo Services Ltd. (as agents for “Sea quest Line”) has been allocated their own
CFS area. Consolidation is also done at ICD, Dhaka; but the facilities are not so good. NOVO
personnel supervise all containers loading. A fleet of 6 prime movers allow them to arrange
local haulage and Stuffing at factory themselves. Novo has very good relationships with all
major Shipping lines; who are operating from Bangladesh. And Novo Cargo Services Ltd.
will be able to offer competitive Sea Freight rates from Bangladesh to all destinations in the
World.
E .AIR FREIGHT :
Total market for Ready made garments is approx. 1500-2000 tons and Novo is Air
Freight Forwarder moving 200/300 tons per month. Rates are as per tact but consolidation
are allowed main carriers. Most important point is that forwarders are only allowed to pre-pay
MAWB and send HAWB collect, if overseas remittance is received within 15 days due to
foreign exchange restrictions. All pallets are built at airport CFS run by Biman (Bangladesh
Air Lines) but NOVO personnel are on hand 24 hours to supervise cargo loading and pallet
building being relations are maintained with all carriers. NOVO has a very good
relationship with all the major Airlines; who are operating in Bangladesh. And NOVO will be
able to offer best competitive Air Freight rates from Bangladesh to any destinations in the
globe.
